How Does it Work?
Andrew, the practitioner at Regis Ear Care Clinic treating you, will look at your ear using a state of the art Karl Kaps Som82 optical microscope for optimised depth perception. After your assessment, a small suction device is used to gently clean the ear without the use of any water.
This method has proved to be very effective and safe, compared with syringing or the use of a probe, which may cause pain or harm to the delicate ear canal.
Who Can Have Microsuction Ear Wax Removal?
People of all ages can have their ears treated in this way. The gentle suction device works in a similar way to a vacuum cleaner, and it is a quick and painless process to remove wax.
Does Microsuction Hurt?
If there is a lot of impacted wax, you may experience a little discomfort, but practitioner will advise you if this is the case, so you know what to expect. For this reason, using a wax-softening spray is recommended 3-4 nights before your Microsuction treatment. Wax softening sprays such as an olive oil spray can be purchased from your local pharmacy
You may also want to bring this spray with you on the day of your appointment in case we need to soften the wax a little more, before your treatment.
